Celebrating all things prehistoric. Join us at 11am for a Dino-riffic Storytimes of fun stories, songs and rhymes. Then at 11.30am our special guests from the Canterbury Museum will be here with real and replica fossils of dinosaur teeth, crabs, stegosaurus plates and even fossilised poo for you to handle! The Museum team will be ready to share their expert knowledge and answer any questions you might have. There will be colouring in and a badgemaker for you to make your very own dino badge! Mobile Auahatanga Creative Spaces tour
Hop on board and discover technologies you can use in our libraries and try some out for free! We are offering a selection of hands-on tasters including: Metaquest VR, Gaming Consoles, Cameo Cutter, iPads and apps, Sphero Indi robots, Bookbots Challenges We'd love to introduce you to some of the technology available in our Auahatanga Creative Spaces! Free, all whānau welcome. Monday 3 November, 1-3pm
Create Together: Whānau Drop-in
This monthly drop-in session is an opportunity for families to learn together and explore our creative STEAM equipment. This session we are celebrating DINOvember and making some dinosaur themed stickers! This free event is held on the first Wednesday of each month. No registration required. A small charge for materials may apply. Please note that some items that are made, may have to be picked up at a later date. Wednesday 5 November, 3.30-5pm
Sending Love from the Library
Come along to make a Christmas card for Sending Love. Write a special message in your card and put it in our Sending Love box. These Christmas cards will then be distributed to people who may be experiencing loneliness within our communities. Let's show our community this simple act of kindness. Our Sending Love box will be available at Te Hāpua:Halswell Centre from November. Bring a card from home or make one with us. All materials will be provided. Free, no bookings needed.

DINOvember Soft Toy Sleepover - Drop your soft toy off at Te Hāpua for a dinosaur sleepover and cheeky adventure at the library! The librarians and dinosaurs will take good care of your special toy for the night. Pick them up the next afternoon and hear about their shenanigans at our special storytimes. Special Information: Thursday 27 Nov by 4pm. Drop off your soft toy at Te Hāpua for their sleepover. Friday 28 November 4-5pm. Pick up your soft toy at our special Storytimes.

Thursday Takeover – Teens
Teens/YA - take over your space! The computer lab and creative space are booked for you! We provide different activities each week - have a go with 3D printing, badge making or designing vinyl sticker slaps with Apple Pencils, crafts or painting or just chill and chat and use our PCs or play on VR.
Suitable for teens 12+ years. Please note, some sessions this term may be unsupervised drop-in.
